A Much Too Much

Well we meet again, I know its been a while. I just kept putting it off again and again.

So I finally made the leap into the digital world, and got myself a Sony A900. Seems to be working out ok for me now. Got it in the hopes that I’ll be able to find paid work, since no one pays for film these days. Not gonna get into the technical stuff about it if you care that much Google away.

So These pics have all been shot on it. Spanning from July to now.

First shot with the camera, thats my dad sitting and working away on his computer.

This was on my way back from I believe a thank you party that Gallery44 had for its volunteers. Just playing around, surprised he didn’t hear me. The shutter seems a bit loud.

Do you see it?

On to hanging out with Natasha at Tim Hortons. I always look like I am on crack eating the powered sugar donuts.

Way to go Natasha…seriously.

And here is Natasha

Enjoying the ice cap…miss that warm weather already.

Went back to her house to hang out some more. I think she was PS’ng something for her blog. She also gave me music to listen to. I still need to go through it all.

Hanging out with Jenya, forgot why he wanted to take a picture but he did. Probably to show me how its done, since I don’t do it right :P

Heading to his apt. We were planning on buy our plane tickets to go see Yuri in Pinawa (hour north east of Winnipeg)

Time to order the tickets. Let the frustrations begin.

To use the credit card he needed some verification number which we thought was one thing but was another and when we tried to sign up for it for some reason or another it did not like his credit card.

Till not working, guess about 20-30 min have passed already since we started.

More talking on the phone.

Getting angry at the computer. :D

Still not sure what is wrong and what they want. Damn those credit card companies.

What?

And we are done, success. Later we joked around that it probably took us as long to get the tickets as it would to get to Yuri. (flight is about 1.5 hours)

This has got to be the fluffiest cat I have ever seen.

After all of that we decided some coffee was in order.

Decided to have the coffee outside, was full inside as well as nice weather outside.

On the phone…I think it was with Cara.

Jenya got a hold of the camera.

A photo of my new/old camera. Got it from school for free a guy donated a bunch of his stuff. Polaroid Land Camera 101. Been shooting Fuji on it but hope to get me some of that Impossible Project film soon.

Went for coffee with Yulia, though she was hunger so she got food as well. She seems happy. Two thumbs up.

My coffee… this might have been the time that NOT only did I forget to lock the card but left the keys in it. FAIL. Lucky for me it was still in the parking lot when we were done.

Hanging out with Yulia on a different day. We decided to go to Brickworks. I personally haven’t been there in years and found out there is a little path and you can see the whole city.

Art? Can you guess what most people do up here?

No clue what was going on but she seemed excited for sure.

Gave her the camera. Again no clue what I’m doing. Looks like … well I’ll just leave that up to you guys to come up with ;)

Txt’ng her life away.

So I thought I saw something so I pointed and shot. Looks like I got me a bunny.

Sara made her return from China where she was teaching English for a year. So we hung out caught up and had a coffee. Took a walk near the lake.

The Sara face.

She was trying to avoid getting her picture taken.

Later that day went to hang out with Vicky, went to a park near her house.

Vicky’s work. I was coming back from the car.

Probably explaining something. The light was amazing love that time of day.

More coffee with Jenya.

He wanted to take a picture…told me ‘hey you look like Jesus’

LOL…and fuck you I am NOT taking this down.

Saw this amazing parking job.

He wanted to drive my car.

A bit annoyed with me taking pictures of him. He’s so full of himself, he loves the attention.

See told you, now he’s gansta.

As soon as I saw this I started laughing. Reminded me of back in the day watching MadTv and the skit they had called Lower Expectations. Just like the intro. I don’t these people and have nothing against them just a memory that I associated with this scene.

Playing with the flash and slow shutter speed.

‘Best Seats in Town!’ I hope not.

Oh the way back Jenya spotted this car with the plates AFK BRB. If you don’t get it just move along.

Starbucks with Natasha.

Telling me something?

Maybe too much sugar?

Look what she did to my coffee, and I wasn’t done even.

Natasha got a hold of the camera.

LOL.

She drew a nice picture of me. Lets just say it looked way better then my attempt to draw her.

This is us on the first morning visiting Yuri, we landed late at night and stayed in Winnipeg for the night. Breakfast time.

Yuri makes an appearance in the blog once again. (on a side note he’s coming in for the holidays going to get him from the air port in a few hours)

Some fancy bridge they had there.

Driving towards his house. Not something you’d see in Toronto.

Went to see this famous fish thing…there was also promise of a button that would turn on the fountain in the middle of that lake. No button was there :(

Yuri treated us to a Yurt experience. This was the view.

The Yurt itself.

The next day before we left we went for a bit of a hike. You can see our Yurt and the others.

Back at Yuri’s place. This be his cat, she’s all grown up now.

Had a great time there, was great to hang out all three of us like in the old days.

Back in Toronto.

Again he told me I look like Jesus.

He wanted to show me some game he just got.

His phone being stupid, been recently replaced.

More coffee with Natasha, she brought coloured pens.

Were calling a certain someone who will remain nameless to see if the number still active.

She was in  no mood to get her picture taken.

Second Cup with Vicky.

Again explaining something to me.

We went for a walk at the beach, got bored was taking pictures of the sand.

Having a convo with I am just gonna take a guess Cara.

Found some Second Cup with Jenya. The guy at the counter noticed my camera, he also shoots Sony. Forgot which but ya.

Not loving it again LOL.

Thought make a little ad for Second Cup. Second Cup call me :P

Vicky was hired by The Globe and Mail to do some shots at school around Ontario. She borrowed my light and I drove her to this one. Ryerson Fashion class. Also not sure if I am allowed to show these but whatever.

Her at work.

Getting some coffee after the shoot.

I think this was the day after just looking at what she got.

Was bored and recently walked by a exhibit by Virginia Mak so I thought I’d give it a go myself.

Went to Williams with Yulia…yum cake.

Downtown and sushi with Natasha. That place is great for photo’s has a massive window facing the street.

Am I in trouble? Also kinda looks like the US army poster, but with out the wink.

Enjoying the green tea. Recently been like addicted to sushi I can never have enough.

This is just a snippet of a crap load Natasha took. Damn that 5fps I think she ended up take like 40 shots LOL.

Was all in good fun.

Got the camera back in my hands. Really got to stop letting other people use it.

Natasha with her sun glasses.

Went walking around and shooting. A view through my Hasselblad. (I will upload the shots from that roll later)

More Starbucks

‘You’

Great shot if I may say so.

Went shooting a bit with Vicky, she was playing around with her new Canon 5D mII.

Yulia was shopping at Town Centre, which is 5 min drive from my house so I came by to keep her company.

Downtown, having a coffee with Jenya on his short break.

I think this was later that day I met up with Vicky.

Just bought myself the new Another Magazine.

Walking around with Jenya, nice view this is Lake Ontario.

No clue whats this supposed to depict.

A game of beach volleyball anyone?

He was like ‘Is that a beaver?’ ‘No thats just a rock’.

Jenya spotted this on the way back. Nice last name.

Quiznos time.

Went to bug Vicky on her break between shifts at work.

Decided to play around with  the camera’s b/w settings.

Me and my bro went to the Remembrance Day ceremony held downtown.

This was on our way back, just wanted to stop by and see how it looked after the mass of people had left.

The first pay toilet in Toronto. Haven’t used it so can’t give you any details.

Went for a drive with Jenya.

Tim Hortons.

Gansta Jenya makes an appearance.

Tim Hortons this time with Natasha.

She was drawing me some toy she saw…no clue who would buy that LOL.

Duck lips.

Crazy much?

Yup crazy.

She wanted to see if she can make both her eyes white.

Went back to Natasha place, this her cat Neo.

Helping Vicky doing some PS work.

Shot I took at the beach after I did a shoot. Started a personal project where I am taking portrait of people. If you’re in the Toronto area and are interested let me know I can give you details.

Just like the pattern.

More Virginia Mak LOL.

After Jenya came and picked me up and we went for food.

More sushi with Natasha.

These were taking using the b/w setting on the camera.

This is the end.

I have some film scanned will probably post again after the new year.

See you guys around.
